My desire for lightweight trekking/running poles that don't require a line of credit has led me to the golf store! I got the idea while reading The Ultimate Hikers Gear Guide by Andrew Skurka. I purchased two used graphite shaft drivers from a golf shop and rubber stoppers from a hardware store. The nice young man decapitated the drivers and I was off to get some rubber stoppers before heading home. I had two types of stopper - big and not as big, shredded a not as big one. So, one shaft is stuck into a big stopper and the other claims the surviving not as big stopper. Tried them out on a hike up to Mt. Hardy. Super sturdy and quick! Like.

I left the grips on because... who cares? Unless there's a weight penalty. |
